Description of Study: Culinary professionals are invited to participate in a research study. The goal of this study is to understand the perceptions of professionalism by culinary leaders. This exploratory study will categorize critical areas for improvement of professionalism standards within the hospitality industry based upon quantitative and qualitative data obtained from active culinary professionals. It will also provide insights into how the concept of professionalism within the culinary arts industry differs from that of other standard professions.
If you agree to participate, you will be asked to complete a questionnaire via a web link. The results will be shared with the industry and will guide recommendations for specific training addressing the current inadequacies of professional values, attitudes, or behaviors as identified by foodservice leaders. The questionnaire will take approximately seven minutes to complete.
Risks/Benefits to the Participant: There may be minimal risk involved in participating in this study. There are no direct benefits to for agreeing to be in this study. Please understand that although you may not benefit directly from participation in this study, you have the opportunity to enhance knowledge of the foodservice industry. If you have any concerns about the risks/benefits of participating in this study, you can contact the investigators and/or the university’s human research oversight board (the Institutional Review Board or IRB) at the numbers listed above.
Cost and Payments to the Participant: There is no cost for participation in this study. Participation is completely voluntary and no payment will be provided.
