We are thrilled that you are considering Elwood Haynes Community Preschool for your child's preschool.  The application contains information and asks a few basic questions, which allow us to prepare for our 2012-2013 preschool program.   This application will allow you to apply for either the Elwood Haynes Community Preschool or Head Start at the Darrough Chapel Early Learning Center.  The application will begin with some basic information on the programs.  The application should take only 5 to 10 minutes to complete.  At the end of the application, an opportunity exists for you to ask additional questions.  A follow-up call from a Kokomo Center School's administrator will address your questions.   After completing the intitial application, you will receive an invitation to visit the school, meet with administrators/teachers, ask additional questions, and provide any additional information that may be needed as we prepare for next school year.  Thank you!

The Elwood Haynes Community Preschool accepts students on a first-come, first-serve basis and enrollment spaces are limited.   After completing this initial application, parents will be invited to visit the school and will be provided detailed information on the program to further demonstrate the level of quality of this preschool.  Once all spots are filled, a waiting list will be utilized.  Parents will know if their students have been accepted to the Elwood Haynes Community Preschool prior to April 30, 2012.

The Head Start Program at the Darrough Chapel Early Learning Center is a nationally-recognized program that serves preschool children and families in poverty.  Families who apply will be contacted by the Head Start staff to discuss the school and to continue the application process.  Families must qualify to attend Head Start, and the timeline for admission will be explained in future meetings with Head Start staff.

The Elwood Haynes Community Preschool will provide students with a core curriculum, as well as the necessary and vital experiences needed to be ready and successful in kindergarten and beyond.  The school's goal is to prepare students for a promising future. 

For the 2012-2013 school year, Elwood Haynes will have the following preschool options:

HALF DAY MORNING PROGRAM - 8:30-11:30 AM.  Cost = $40/week.  A snack is provided.

HALF DAY AFTERNOON PROGRAM - 12:30-3:30 PM.  Cost = $40/week.  A snack is provided.
 
FULL DAY PROGRAM - 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM.  Cost = $90/week.  Lunch and snacks are provided.

A separate latch key program for extended child-care hours will be available before and after school. 
The school operates on the same calendar as Kokomo-Center Schools.

Head Start is a Federal program that provides a comprehensive preschool for qualified families in Howard, Miami and Tipton counties.  The local Head Start program has been recognized by Federal officials as one of the best in the nation.

Enrollment dates for Howard County preschoolers are April 30th, May 7th, and May 14th from 9 AM to 3 PM each day.  Completing an online application will result in your family being contacted by Head Start staff to arrange an appointment to continue the enrollment process.
