Recently, United Way set an ambitious goal: Make greater Detroit one of the top five places in which to live and work by 2030. When we started thinking about the best way to achieve that goal, we realized that we needed to sharpen the focus of our work. Rather than collecting and distributing funds to myriad organizations, we decided to concentrate on three interconnected impact areas where strong improvement will insure a better life for everyone.
