Thank you for your interest in becoming a Mock Trial Summer Institute Counselor. MTSI will take place from July 14-19, 2013. Counselors are required to attend a pre-MTSI dinner meeting in Albany on July 13, 2013 and then the counselors all travel up to Silver Bay the following day.
As a counselor you are on duty for the entire time the camp is in session. You along with your fellow counselors, the MTSI Director, a full time nurse, and the Mock Trial program manager will be responsible for the instruction, supervision, and general well being of 48 high school aged students. Counselors are generally assigned six students that they will work with during the week to ready for a hearing on the final day of camp. These students are your responsibility throughout the week. You will be assisting them with any issues that may come up and ensuring they are handed off to a parent/guardian at the close of camp. Counselors are required to assist with classroom instruction and any group activities as assigned by the MTSI Director.
Pay is commensurate with experience and all travel, accommodation, meals, and material costs are covered by the New York State Bar Association, the Law, Youth and Citizenship Program, and the New York Bar Foundation.
