Introduction to the MAEIA Blueprint Survey

The MAEIA Blueprint describes the highest possible standard for arts education programs within a comprehensive K-12 public school system. The arts disciplines addressed in the MAEIA Blueprint are those included in current National Arts Education Standards and Michigan Arts Education Standards, i.e. dance, music, theatre and the visual arts. The Blueprint identifies a model of the highest standard as a guide in program improvement. Hereafter, this standard is referred to as the gold standard for arts education programs in Michigan. The Blueprint is based on research and best practices. Use of the MAEIA Blueprint by Michigan districts is intended for voluntary use at the district level.
The MAEIA Blueprint document is comprised of:
1. Introduction (identical for all 4 arts disciplines)
2. Chapter 1: Executive Summary (identical for all 4 arts disciplines)
3. Chapter 2: In depth description of 7 criteria and related indicators for each of the arts disciplines:
A. Student Access
B. Facilities and Resources
C. Policies and Accountability
D. Connections
E. Instructional Support and Professional Development
F. Community and Cultural Resources
